Wood Blewit is an autumn fruiting mushroom that appears randomly where there is plenty of surface forest litter. It seems to have a preference for layered hardwood and pine needle/pine chip duff mixed with layers of leaves and organic matter. Blewits take more than one growing season to establish, so patience and stable conditions are important for successful cultivation.

Lab produced, Belgian made, top quality, fresh, mycelium strains on sterilized rye grain berries in special sealed mushroom bags. Once the bag is opened, the spawn must be used and applied to the substrate immediately. You will receive ready colonized rye grain spawn for inoculation on various fruiting substrates, of your choice.

Your wood blewit spawn is prepared fresh after ordering to maximize on quality. For this reason it may take between 10 to 14 days to produce.

Ideally the product should be used immediately after delivery, but, keep it stored in the fridge at 4° Celsius for a maximum of two months and it will still be viable - Respect the expiry date on the package.

EDIBILITY

The Wood Blewit (Lepista nuda) is an excellent, highly-regarded edible mushroom, but must be cooked thoroughly as it could cause gastric upsets or allergic reactions when raw - even when cooked, some people should try a small amount first. It's known for its strong, sweet, earthy flavor and violet-blue color, especially when young, making it great for stews and sautéing.

GROWING AND SUBSTRATE

For maximum results it is best that this mushroom is grown indoor within a hydroponics grow room/tent, but a clean area or dark corner where there is a decent amount of humidity, air exchange and constant temperatures could also be used.

A humidifier would help to monitor humidity. Do not put in direct sunlight and watch out for gnats.
